We are pleased to invite you to the first event of the British-Croatian Society 2026/27 programme, where Luka Ivan Jukic will present his book, Central Europe: The Death of a Civilization and the Life of an Idea. Doors open at 18:00 and the talk will commence at 18:30, followed by a glass of wine.

Selected by The Times as ‘Best History Book of the Year,’ Jukic’s debut work disentangles the enigma of Central Europe through its birth, death and rebirth. Jukic retraces the region’s history, but also explores its current geopolitical role: how is it that this entity defies definition, yet seems to centre in nearly every contemporary crisis?
